FINAL COMMENTS
Of course this section is far from complete, but here are several comments to clarify a few things. Some guitars were occasionally rented or borrowed for studio use or props. For example, the Rickenbacker and acoustic guitars in Rock 'n' Roll High School. To quote the man himself again, "I ain't never owned no folk guitar!" While the guitar in the RnR Radio video is the white Mosrite, the guitar that is smashed through the TV set looks like a white Les Paul (or more likely, a cheap copy). Clearly the white Mosrite would have broken into pieces had it been put through that kind of abuse. A few photos exist from various studio sessions with other guitars, and it is always possible that we overlooked something. Of course there may be the odd-ball stories that are one-off events... Some kid brings a Mosrite to sound check to sell or trade; Johnny uses it as a backup for a few songs that night, but doesn't buy it. Most likely, no one got a photo and that guitar is never seen again. We would love to hear stories like this. If anyone has a guitar they believe to have been owned by the band, please get in touch.
