In anticipation of the kittens' dinner time, we strategically placed two vintage AKG C-451-E microphones (pictured above) in close proximity to the food bowls. As the "Liver Chicken Recipe" was opened, the cats responded in excitement. The legendary CK-1 capsule of these microphones was especially helpful in capturing the true sounds, recorded to half-inch tape
For the purring, the microphone of choice would have been the AKG D-12-E (pictured). However, its relative size to the kittens intimidated them, so instead we opted for the Sennheiser 421.
